Torrential rains on Saturday caused severe flooding on the plains in and around Calgary, flooding thousands of homes and stranding people in campgrounds. One columnist for the Calgary Herald quoted a rescue worker "You can't cure stupid" -- he was upset that people ignored repeated warnings to evacuate.
