As you stroll the campus of Michigan State University you often encounter surprises, as I did yesterday:
Hmm, I thought -- I didn't recall that .coop had been approved as a "Top Level Domain" or TLD as they call it.
But a little Googling revealed that sure enough ICANN had approved this TLD a while back:
And sure enough, www.msu.coop is the Web site for the MSU Student Housing Cooperative, a worthy organization dating back to 1969.
It's odd how you forget things. I actually wrote an article about whether the library community should pursue .library when ICANN approved .museum -- at the same time they approved .coop.
I guess sometimes memories just fly the coop.
